Online catalogue saves design time
Power Jacks’ 3D CADalogue includes an advanced product configurator so users can specify and download the models in real-time online
Power Jacks’ online 3D CADalogue has been expanded to include the S-series high-performance screw jack range. The 3D CADalogue includes an advanced product configurator so users can specify and download the models in real-time online. Localisation of the system is available in five language options of English, French, German, Spanish and Italian.

The intuitive interface of the product configurator allows users to quickly locate, configure and download the model of the S-series screw jack that they need as a 3D solid model or as a 2D drawing.
Alternatively products can be located by keyword or product series using the search facility.
S-series screw jack configuration options include selectable features for capacity rating; gear ratios; stroke lengths; screw lead pitch; screw material; gearbox lubrication; and end fittings for the lead screw, including clevis, top plate and threaded end; bellows boot screw protection.
Integral screw jack devices include anti-backlash, anti-rotation (keyed) and secondary guides.
Other options include lead screw thread direction; side bolt adapter holes; and worm shaft end options.

Website gains CAD models and configurator
In a major move to supply designers with critical product CAD information 24/7 anywhere in the world, Power Jacks has launched a 3D CADalogue with built in product configurator on its website
The gearbox lubricant option changes the plug, filler, breather and sight glass combinations for the configured model.
It leaves these items moveable in the final model so the user can select a suitable position for an item such as the oil breather plug.
Once the user has configured the desired screw jack model the system automatically generates the 20-digit product number for the exact model.

After configuration the model can be downloaded and to ensure the best possible compatibility between CAD systems there over 20 model/drawing formats to choose from including SolidWorks, Pro-Engineer, SolidEdge, AutoCAD, Catia, Unigraphics and SDRC-Ideas allowing the models/drawings to be easily integrated into system designs.
This free facility is an essential engineering tool for modern engineering.
Using the CADalogue can save hours of work while improving design accuracy by enabling designers to download compatible files directly eliminating the need to manually recreate models from catalogues.
Once in an assembly the integration of the model into the design can easily be tested.
Further time savings can also be made in the purchasing department if the electronic RFQ (request for quotation) facility is used to easily request price and other information for the configured screw jack.
Over the coming months the 3D CADalogue will be further expanded as more products from the Power Jacks portfolio further increase the capability of this design resource.
The CADalogue already contains screw jacks, linear actuators and bevel gearbox models for a range of products, including the E-series of Metric Machine Screw Jacks in nien capacities up to 1000kN and the E-series Metric Ball Screw Jacks in five capacities up to 200kN.
They are also available for the E-series Stainless Steel Metric Machine Screw Jacks in sixcapacities up to 300kN, the Neeter Drive Range-N Bevel gearboxes in five series with torques up to 3085Nm, and the EMA range of electric linear actuators in three types up to 10kN and 5500mm/min.
Power Jacks’ high-performance S-series screw jacks are a range of metric screw jacks with a cube-shaped gearbox designed to have a higher duty cycle and improved mounting flexibility over conventional single-face worm gear screw jacks.
The higher duty rating has been attained by optimising the design of the screw jacks worm gearbox for a higher thermal efficiency.
In general, tests showed that the S-series screw jacks had a 50% higher duty cycle than conventional worm gear screw jacks, for a given lead screw type.
